Megasorber Soundmesh® G8A
Soundmesh® G8A is a thin fireproof acoustic lining fabric with a heat reactive adhesive backing for perforated/slotted panels,
perforated metal sheets and timber slats.
Soundmesh® G8A is a smart material which breaks the soundwave down to little components, then traps and dissipates the soundwave within the spacer behind it (U.S. Patent No. 8167085, Canada Patent No. 2674986, Australia Patent No. 2009206197). The figure below shows how this soundproofing mechanism works.
The Unique Soundproofing Mechanism of Soundmesh® G8A
Soundmesh® G8A is engineered to have an acoustic impedance tuned specifically for perforated/slotted panels, perforated metal sheets and timber slats. Soundmesh® G8A utilizes the latest material technology to maximize sound absorption.
The heat reactive adhesive is specially developed to allow G8A to adhere onto perforated or slotted panels with applied heat. Once laminated, G8A provides the panels with exceptional sound absorption capacity.
Soundmesh® G8A is non-combustible. It has BCA (Building Code of Australia) Group 1 fire Classification. It complies with IMO Resolution A653(16) requirements. It has high-temperature resistance up to 550°C.
It can be used in outdoor environments without degradation of performance.
Soundmesh® G8A can be supplied with a built-in fluid/water repellent property for easy cleaning and maintenance. It can also be supplied without the heat re-active adhesive backing.
It is available in four standard colours: black, white, grey and sandstone. Colour-matching is available to any customized colour, however, minimum order quantity applies.
Soundmesh G8A can provide sound absorption for slotted panels, perforated panels timber slat panels with an NRC (Noise Reduction Coefficient) up to 0.80.
Soundmesh G8A can provide sound absorption for various perforated metal panels.
The graph below shows how Soundmesh® G8A boosts the sound absorption of a 12mm thick slotted MDF board from NRC of 0.11 to NRC of 0.75:
The graph below shows how Soundmesh® G8A boosts the sound absorption at low frequencies as the air gap increases, resulting in a very even sound absorption across the whole frequency spectrum:
The graph below shows how Soundmesh® G8A boosts the sound absorption further when Megasorber acoustic polyester wool or Megasorber P50 (acoustic polyester wool with Soundmesh® G8 facing) is used as cavity infill:
Note: (1) Metal panel: 0.35mm thick perforated aluminium panel with 2.38mm hole, 11% opening, 6.74mm pitch and 10mm corrugation depth; (2) 250mm air gap, no cavity infill;
Standard Product | Colour* | Width | Roll Size |
---|---|---|---|
Megasorber Soundmesh® G8A-B | Black | 1.25m | 1.25m x 300m |
Megasorber Soundmesh® G8A-W | White | 1.25m | 1.25m x 300m |

Megasorber Soundmesh® G8A-RG: water repellent, grey G8 with heat re-active adhesive backing;
3. Standard roll length is 300m. The tolerance is +50m / -50m for roll length.
4. Customized roll width and roll length are available, minimum order quantity (MOQ) applies.
Specifications are subject to change without notice. Please contact us for the latest version. "Fireproof", "Non-flammable", "Non-combustible" means the product has successfully passed AS/NZS 3837, IS0 5660-1, ASTM E1354 Group 1 fire rating (AWTA test report No. 7-566397-CV). Patented Soundmesh G8 (U.S. Patent No. 8167085, Canada Patent No. 2674986, Australia Patent No. 2009206197). The data listed in this data sheet are typical or average values based on tests conducted by independent laboratories or by the manufacturer. They are indicative only of the results obtained in such tests and should not be considered as guaranteed maximums or minimums. Materials and installation methods must be tested under actual service to determine their suitability for a particular purpose. "Aussie engineered" means the products are engineered in Australia with globally sourced materials.
Our Soundmesh® G8A product but without the pre-coated hot melt adhesive. Soundmesh® G8 is widely used as a fireproof and protective sound absorbing facing material for foam or polyester materials (see below). It can also be hung as banners or curtains or installed with an air gap between it and a wall.
